What Is Coaching

Updated: Dec 4, 2018

What is coaching and why it is worth trying it (with me)

According to International Coach Federation (ICF):

Coaching is partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.

For me coaching is asking the right questions and helping to find out what is inside of the person without judging, telling what to do or how to do it. The role of the coach is to ask the right questions and to follow the client. No matter if the coaching is happening in a business or more private contexts, it serves better understanding of our actions and helps in decision making and basically in getting stuff done.

Examples where coaching can support you

The purpose of coaching can be learning new skills, improving oneself in professional or private life or even making life or professional choices. I basically help in getting stuff done without imposing anything or judging. I listen and I help build structures when it's needed or - when it's needed - I help in forgetting about structures setting the mind free in order to see what is there.

Your goals can be connected to your professional life, competencies’ development or life decisions. With coaching support you can work on anything that lays within your powers.

Coaching can have many goals including:

  • Career development

  • Making life decisions (big or small)

  • Prioritising and defining what is really important to you and making concrete plans how to get there

  • Learning new competences like for example soft skills, better planning and time management, delegating responsibilities

And if you’re not sure if this is something for you, you can always contact me and check if coaching is a right way for you at this moment.

Why communication and innovation?

For many years I was working in the intersection of democracy and civic innovation, that included building technology solutions for better public participation, creating apps for empowering communities and figuring out new ways of using technology to fight false news or tracking per-election promises. It was a lot of fun and I got to know amazing people from all around the world. Especially with my latest connection as a civic tech expert in TransparenCEE network I learned that true innovation lays in great communication and being true to yourself. And this is how I decided to support people (humans, not robots) and organizations in discovering what can be innovation for them.
